May The Fourth Be With You
Posted by

Listing Photo May 4th is this weekend and I love Star Wars! We did a wheel chart back when Toys R Us was still around. I miss Toys R Us but love the nostalgia feeling looking back at the job we did.   Have a great May Fourth everyone, may the force be with you!...

2020 Celebrations Pop-Up
Posted by

Listing Photo It’s never too early to start thinking of 2020, especially when we have a fresh batch of designs coming out soon. Last year we discontinued the Celebrations Pop-Up. This year we decided to bring it back but with a different look.  We went all the way back to 1996 to pick up the whimsical designs featured in a Pop-Up called Seasons.  Since all of the designs were hand-drawn we decided to try and update it a bit and re-draw them on computer. As you can see from the images, the designs were clean, simple and fun!  We tried to keep the same idea of the seasonal designs but I had a problem drawing watermelons…instead of those I went with flip-flops. I guess drawing watermelons is my kryptonite… I will have to say my favorite panel is November. The design of the turkeys looking at a former compatriot makes me laugh every time! ...

Spring is just around the corner…
Posted by

Listing Photo No really, it has to be! I saw robins the other day so in theory, that means spring should be here any minute now. Even if spring is not here, it’s never too early to start thinking about planting a garden.  We worked with Selecta North America/Trixi Plants & Flowers to develop this “Personality Match” selection guide.  A mylar foil “mirror” displays a symbol that matches the personality trait in the far right window, and the appropriate flower combo reads in the window just below.  Nothing says spring more than flowers so hopefully seeing this colorful wheel chart brings hopes of an early spring!...

Why I love Halloween!
Posted by

Listing Photo My favorite time of the year is Halloween. Maybe it’s because I was born in October but I’ve always loved the classic horror movie marathons that go on during the whole month. When I was younger I would pour through horror magazines. I guess that makes me what they call now a “Monster Kid”. A few years back we decided to run a competition on our Facebook page. We picked three horror monsters and created faux products utilizing these monsters. We gave our audience a chance to vote on their favorite monster. The monsters were a zombie, a vampire, and a werewolf.  The werewolf won by a landslide even though some of us Walking Dead fans were pulling for the zombie to win!     Years ago we did a polyhedron for the movie Puppet Master. This pop-up was packaged with multiple items that were sent to video stores with information on ...

Cheers to you this holiday season!
Posted by

Listing Photo The Holidays are fast approaching, so at American/Perrygraf we created our Christmas Card to send to our favorite customers! We decided to go with a functional and fun polyhedron pop-up with a header card. The poly has a whimsical flowing design that can be set out all year and functions as a pen/pencil holder. The header is created in the form of an Elf can be removed and used as a Christmas ornament. The back of the Elf features the words Merry Christmas in various languages…including Klingon! For added flair, the card is printed in four color process plus a metallic ink. For additional POP, we added a 3D effect to the red and gold foil for the stars. The four color and spot color were printed in house. The 3D effect was printed at Dreamworks Graphic Communications. The Skodix inkjet machine at Dreamworks creates 3D enhancements and textures that are pu...

How to make your Christmas card a WOW!
Posted by

Listing Photo A few words about the upcoming holiday season from our senior designer Kelly: I love the Christmas Season and all the Christmas Cards that get delivered. Whether it is at home or at work or by e-mail, each season comes with the influx Holiday Greetings. You have the e-cards which even the funniest make me think, that’s cute and then I delete. Then you have the cards in the mail that tend to include the generic front with generic message inside. I hang those along the doorway along with the others and tend not to think twice about them. Last you have those special cards, the ones with pictures and special personalized moments that you can’t help but smile at each time you pass. Which does your Christmas card encompass? Are you the bland or the wow? Do you want to take your Christmas Card to the next level, then try some of these example on how to make your Christmas/Holiday...
